The Soprano Uke makes the mandolin seem like a big instrument! But a very different sound produced by all the different sizes - I do rather like the baritone sounds - also like the way it can be tuned like the top 4 strings of a guitar - less problem for my poor tired old brain to know what chords I'm playing.

Nice looking instrument. I've heard that one of the great advantages of the uke is that you can play it whilst reclining in a comfy chair. Hope you have lots of fun with it.

Nice one Larry. How's the mando coming along? Need a new high string for it and the bridge setting properly. Man floating bridges are not fun! So its in a box collecting dust.

It can be tricky. I won't describe how to set the thing, as I'm sure you've already done the rounds of the web and seen articles on the matter by people who are better qualified than me. I will say that when you do change the strings it would be a good idea to change all of them, or at least both of the high E strings, so that you don't accentuate the intonation problems. Also, once you have the bridge adjusted properly but have got to a point where you need to whack on a new set of strings, keep the two old D strings in place to hold it in position until you've changed the A and E strings. You may well have to make some fine adjustments, but it's better than starting from scratch.

but the soprano she started out with was way too small for my fretting hand, or for hers. Mark Yup. I gave away my Soprano as a FFG - just too small for my fat hands. I'm happy with the concert I have, but would love to try a tenor/baritone, too I started with a concert uke and recenty bought a tenor. I totally love playing it. I use a looping pedal to set up the chords and then play lead or melody line over that. I've played a few gigs doing this and people love the sound and are always surprised how good it sounds. The problem with uke's is that they are known as a child's instrument but they are far from that. I would love a bass uke!
