Hi,
Further to my previous email we went to see the first night of the 2014 Eagles tour in Birmingham last night. Overall 5 stars! They started on time at 8.00, had a 15 minute break and then finished at 11.05 so nearly 3 hours. The first half was primarily the early days stuff, initially based on Don Henley and Glenn Frey joined by Bernie then Timothy and finally Joe Walsh. I must say that 40 years on the voices of the lead singers were amazingly good, even playing in the same key as the originals much of the time. Glenn must have been suffering with his right hand as it was taped in the first half and more heavily bandaged in the second but didn't seem to affect his playing at all. If I was being very picky, the only slight weakness vocally seemed to be Tim, but no-one could really match Randy Meisner anyway on high vocals.
The second half moved more into the somewhat harder rock era and Joe Walsh was undoubtedly the star, both musically and stage presence. I hadn't really appreciated just how good he is. The finish of course reprised Take it Easy, HC and a final Desperado where Don's vocal brought the house down.
I was somewhat apprehensive going, having had the tickets bought for me as a present and at a price I would never have paid myself. How could that horrendous price be justified? It was worth every penny and I wouldn't have missed this show for the world. If you're an Eagles fan and haven't seen them live, sell your gold watches, spare 6-ers, re-mortgage the house and don't miss it; you'll probably never get the chance again.
Just brilliant and unforgettable. How am I going to get those damned melodies out of my head!

FFJ Pleased you enjoyed it - it sounds a great performance as usual from the boys. Assuming the Bernie you mentioned was Bernie Leadon? if yes nice to see him back Phil
