I haven't picked up a guitar (or even a banjo) in anger in quite a while, so to my horror I found myself reaching for the ukulele a few days ago, and I've been having a bit of fun with it, just twanging out a few songs, shouting along with it and generally not worrying too much about 'learning stuff'. With the way things are at the moment, it's a bit of a tonic actually

Good for you. Playing should be all about having fun. And if you enjoy yourself with a uke - and we all need help from time it time in getting out of ruts - then uke away for all you are worth!

"Fun" and "Uke" just seem to go together. Enjoy the tonic! Uke and tonic is probably healthier than gin and tonic too. Mark

Just blasting out some simple, jolly tunes and wailing along - it's driving the missus crazy, but it's better than telly (for me at least)!

Just to show how warped my mind is, having overdosed on crosswords: one of the words above triggered a memory of a topical joke that is so old that it is recorded on parchment: Q. What food bored Vera Lynn in the war? A. "Whale meat again....". I am so, so sorry. Brian

nothing at all to be sorry about, Brian! Compared to the usual jokes on here, that's a belter!

After hearing my mate bang out three simple chords while singing Noah and the whales 5years time I commented hey for less than £100 that sound great I think I'll get one of these for some fun. His reply was "no don't you'll end up never playing guitar for weeks on end and forgetting all the stuff you've learnt and worked for that's what happened to me...... But it's been great fun"
