I'm pretty keen on buying a looper mainly to practice at home but maybe also to play live,
I've spent ages on various review sites and am tending towards a Boss Rc30 or a Jam Man Stereo.
I realise that the Ditto probably has the cleanest sound of all the budget loopers but I'm attracted by the idea of backing tracks, quantising and switching from one phrase to another that the Boss and JamMan have.
Does anyone have experience of either of them or preferably both?

I've had them all at some point and still have the ditto. The jam man is terrible and the ditto lacks features. The vox lil looper or the vox vdl1 is better than them all. Not as well made but far better features.

Not had much experience with the loop pedal but have recently bought the boss rc30. Up to now just used it for practicing. Good for playing along with the different drum beats. Have now started to add backing vocals. Its easy to use, the hardest bit is getting the timings right but you'd have that problem with any looper you buy. The case is very sturdy and it is great fun to use. There are plenty of reviews on them on YouTube but in the end it is down to you which one you buy. The best thing I found is that it has helped me keep in time. Good luck with your search.

I don't have one yet, but I guess it will be the ditto. I plan to use it for backing and soloing Bossa Nova. From what I've read/heard/seen so far the ditto seems to be the most interesting alternative.

I ended up buying a Jam Man Solo XT. 115€ on Thomann. Pretty easy to use and plenty of memory for creating your own backing tracks to practice solos or harmonies. Also fun to overdub acoustic and electric.
As thejamsinger said, the best thing is that it really shows up your timing issues and is a lot more fun than using a metronome.
