In this thread there was a request for tab/chords to Nic Jones' "Courting is a Pleasure" and as I can't resist a challenge . . . This is based on what I "hear" listening to the track on "Penguin Eggs". Tuning is Bb F Bb F Bb F C - which is CGCGCD tuning one step down. The intro is lyrical and in 4/4 time and goes slow, speeds up and then goes slow again before moving into 3/4 time for the song. I have put this section up to the start of the first verse into tab in this readable/downloadable pdf file. The chords for the verse are in this readable/downloadable Word Document file. The highest note of the chord is not always played but I have shown full chord shapes to help fingering. I've recorded me playing (badly) the intro plus two verses and you can listen/download it here. I'm not playing it with the exact syncopation that Nic Jones does and he varies it but you have the main structure. The outro you can work out for yourselves as you have all of the info you need Have fun

That is a very impressive set of ears and guitar brain at work, Dave!
Now, about the solo to Voodoo Child (slight return) ...

Blimey, that is impressive! A great player AND a great builder with excellent musical knowledge. Whew! The hate this could engender on any other guitar forum!!!! I am wildly impressed Mr W and I take my hat off to you.

Leo - thanks. Kym - thanks. "Vodoo Child" - would that be a minor tuning? Paul - thanks. When discussions on guitar forums come up about makers that can also play, my name. . . never comes up So I'm pretty safe I think

Do you remember when your avatar was a light hiding under a bushel, Dave? I always knew how apt that was!

I have at last been granted a break from chores by my gracious Domestic Line Manager and been able to give this tune a try. It is wonderful!
Your performance is a delightful bonus and gives me something to aspire to, though you have set the bar very high.
Thanks again Dave for doing this. You have made an old man very happy!

Brian, Glad to be of service. Probably better than making a happy man very old
