George, what sort of rosette is it, picture would be handy, but the simple answer is that it is not an easy job on a finished guitar. When the rosette is inlaid it is done when the top is flat and before the braces have been glued to the top, and critially before the soundhole is cut so that a central point can be used around which to rotate the trimmer. Have a look at mine or Dave's current build threads.
If the soundhole has been cut then you'd need to make up a disc the exact size of the sound hole with a central pivot point for the channel cutter and find a way of fixing it solidly into the soundhole. Also of course if the finger board overlays the rosette then that too would have to be removed, which would involve refretting after it is refitted.
As you may have gathered, not a job to be undertaken lightly.
But post a picture and we may be able to give you more relevant advice.

From the picture I can't tell if that is an inlaid rosette or a decal, however, with the black top removing either type without an enormous amount of additional work looks un-doable, removal of fingerboard and it's associated refretting, removing the rosette itself and refinishing the top, with the possibility of the bridge having to be taken off and re-glued. For a pro repairman to do that amount of work you'd be up in the cheaper to buy a new guitar level of cost.
