Whistle Test vid -
Keith
Edit - Posted this for the first song, Home is where the heart is - which I really like. Didn't realise there was another song on there as well - not such a good one either, though Christine's voice is always worth hearing.

I have loads of Clive's cd's and seen him live many times. He comes from not far from me (Ashton-U-Lyne) and I first saw him live in the early 90's at the Cross Keys Folk Club which is run by his mate Jim. Clive was doing a spot when I went in I remember thinking god who is this guy, what a voice and player???!!! He is a really nice guy to talk to as well Thanks for posting. Cheers Phil

I'm a CG/CC fan too...I seem to recall he caused a bit of a stramash on AL a few years back when a rereleased album [? Home and Away] was panned by the mag reviewer [?who] ... I prefer his material played acoustically myself...CC's voice and harmonies are just...not enough superlatives come to mind!

...and I'm afraid I had a go when he showed a patronising attitude to country fans who wear western gear in another review. There are good motivations for it, every bit as valid as dressing up for the morris or Civil War recreations.

Ah yes, I remembere Gregsongate when Wise didn't live up to his name. I thinbk I've forgiven him now though! Phil, do you have the excellent CG/CC 1980s LP Home and Away - basically a live album taped at a couple of folk clubs? www.clivegregson.com/HomeAndAway.htmIt's one of my faves, full of superbly written songs, great singing and some excellent guitarring. I've seen them guest in the second half of an RT acoustic gig - what a trio! Clive by himself is well worth seeing (he's in Shaw, Playhouse 2, in May, Phil)- at the end of the gig I went to, he unplugged and walked around the audience (back room of pub) playing acoustically - excellent. Christine by herself is also excellent, though even she admits her guitar playing is rudimentary and is really just a vehicle for her amazing voice. But CG and CC together are a heavenly combination. Agree entirely with you Andrew! Keith
