This is a Patrick Eggle Singlecut (similarly shaped to the Patrick Eggle Austin model) made in England in 2006. It is believed that this was made as a one-off, for a guitar show. The chambered (hollowed) body is coloured in a Cherry Sunburst, the main body is mahogany, with a quilted maple top. The body is chamfered from the maple top, to the mahogany sides, giving the guitar a stylish look. The mahogany neck has 22-Frets and is C-Profiled. The ebony fretboard has a nice, double leaf marker, on the 12th fret.Pickups are P90 Singlecoils but I'm unsure who made them. I'm also unsure of who made the 2-piece, stoptail bridge. I do know that the Machine Heads are USA Sperzel Locking Tuners. The amber control knobs are Master Volume and Master Tone, with a 3-way, pickup Selector Switch. It came with a generic, good quality, hard case. This is my 3rd Eggle electric (had a Berlin Pro, some 20 years ago and an LA Custom, up until quite recently) and like the others, this baby is built very solidly and finished to an excellent standard. It is smooth and very comfortable to play. It's not super light but, with a chambered body, it's lighter than you might think, for it's size and woods. The P90s are as you'd expect, if you're familiar with them. A nice fat, single coil tone, that sounds clear and punchy. Of my 4 electrics, this sounds the best, with a little, valve overdrive. Rocky and musical, to the ears. When I saw pictures of this guitar, I wasn't sure if I'd like it. But when I saw it for real, I liked it's looks, straight away. Fortunately it's playability, tone and quality, also appealed, very quickly.

That's beautiful, Graham! Great colour and shape, almost like the so-called 'soap bar' PRS guitars I love the look of. The P90s look great too, very stylish.

Thanks Martin.
Soap Bar, refers to P90 pickups, as they are often cream coloured and shaped a bit like a bar of soap.
The shop I got this from, had a whole room of PRS guitars, with a PRS combo amp and PRS sweat-shirts. Like a shrine really.
I've never taken to PRS. They are amazing instruments but just don't float my boat.

Of course, that makes a lot more sense, obviously I had attributed it to the smooth, rounded curves of the body shape, without a hard edge. Anyway, I love the PRS single cut electrics, but this Eggle seems special, especially if it really is a one-off. Could be a future collectors' piece

Smart looking guitar - I assume the Patrick Eggle is the same Patrick James Eggle of acoustic builds? In which case quality levels should be on the high side, especially if it's a special one off. Glad I don't play electrics any more or I'd be getting envious. Single cut P90 can be a good comfort / sound fit. I used a less classy PRS SE Soapbar a lot back in the days on the dark side and it was very versatile - once I'd got rid of the stock pickups for some Vintage ToneRiders. But this one of yours is higher league stuff - congratulations and enjoy! Mark

I assume the Patrick Eggle is the same Patrick James Eggle of acoustic builds? Mark It is the same Patrick Eggle but he is no longer connected to the company. I don't know when he left them but I heard he has even lost the rights to his elevtric guitars. I have owned a Patrick Eggle made acoustic and it was very well made. Probably the second best acoustic I've owned.

Lovely looker, and no doubt sounds lovely too - I really like the P90 sound. The body contouring/edge treatment looks great - like it was a Les Paul lolly that's been sucked a bit. Congrats on that one!

I know what you mean, Keith. It does rather have the look of a boiled sweet. Like a glossy rhubarb and custard. I've noticed it looks more red in photos. In person, it is more golden(ish).
