I have had some dodgy strings over the years I'm not a particular fan of Elixirs. Problem is as you get less young you develop a black hole trying to remember what strings are on what guitar(s) (most people on the forum have more than one some like Leo and Martin have a bucketful and when they were changed: strings not guitars I devised a simple way of keeping track which I am sure many people on the forum already use. When I change strings I keep the pack and write on it the date of change and any problems experienced in the change over. The pack is then filed in my guitar box This seems to work for me and I don't go buying strings that I don't like. I guy I met once had a variation of this theme he would put a tiny adhesive label on the back of the headstock of the guitar with the make and date of change recorded Personally thought this was a bit untidy and what if he played so fast it caught fire

I'm a bit slipshod when it comes to string changing, and I never keep track of what goes on what, although since I rarely experiment with them, and even more rarely change the damn things, it doesn't matter a great deal. What you do seems logical and interesting, but to me is verging a bit towards OCD

Erm...
They used to be made out of animal gut but now they're made of nylon or metal.
The end.

Sounds like an excellent idea, not OCD at all. It's only OCD if you have to arrange the pack at a particular angle in relation to what's on the same shelf/drawer, or if you have to keep two packs to make it an even number, etc, or if you use the old strings with budgies' bells on the end to practise bellringing in your living room.

So as we have moved on this thread from record keeping of strings to being OCD how do you store your music/books /DVD's by genre, Alphabetical, by age, or any other nomenclature and at what point do you become OCD. Answers please on both sides of the paper and no conferring you have 1 hour for this test
