I am going to soon be (hopefully) buying a Vintage V300 as a beater, it has been messed around with quite a bit, it is in far from perfect condition but it is only £25, nice enough guitar but it is in a baby blue finish which makes it look cheap and nasty and I like everything apart the colour, is is possible to strip the finish and leave the entire guitar just as bare wood?, I wouldn't really want to go to the hassle of spraying a £25 guitar.

A blowtorch would be best. :-)

Keep it blue. Put stickers on it. It'll match your case then!

I'd be inclined to leave it blue too. Ironically though.
But, if you manage to get the blue off and can obtain a reasonable looking and smooth sanded surface then I'd go for a simple and quickish oil finish - would look much better than bare wood, which will start to get dirty and stained v quickly.

To strip the finish on any guitar I always use a cabinet scraper with a fine burr, then sandpaper. I'm afraid there is no short cut. Keith is right a quick application of an oil finish, Tru-oil or Liberon finishing oil will stop the wood from becoming dirty.
