There's little to beat going to a guitar shop and having so much to choose from
Sounds like you chose wisely and that is one, lovely guitar. Lowdens just have that sound and are hard not to love.
Congrats on a stunner.

I love threads like these Congratulations to this stunningly beautiful Lowden guitar, Mark. And as it's an irish guitar I'd like to send you this greeting: May the strings rise to meet you. May the tune always be in your ears. May the sound shine warm into your heart. May the notes ring softly to your song. I've had a hard day, so please excuse my melodramatic expression

Great story! And may you have many thousands of hours of happy playing! Is anyone taking bets on whether it stays under the bed for the next 3 months yet? I thought I was over GAS until I read this... and am now thinking I've never played a LOWDEN...

Alison, Grayn, Dave, Phil, Bernd - many thanks. Bernd - I really liked your "melodramatic expression". The thoughts behind those words in the greeting are very resonant. Alison - think I'll better try and distract myself from the fact that it's there at all! Maybe I should concentrate on things like new pieces and compositions over the next few months ... well I guess 13 weeks won't take too long if the rest of the year so far is a guideline. Just waiting for my lottery numbers to come up so I can go back and get the Clyst too! Mark

I thought I was over GAS until I read this... and am now thinking I've never played a LOWDEN... Ah - your post appeared just as I finished my one above. Thank you! The "Under the Bed Challenge"! I do apologise for inflicting GAS! You better not watch George Lowdens videos on the voice of a guitar. It's very easy to get caught up in his enthusiasm and love of his guitars. Severe GAS pangs may well result. Mark

Very nice vikingblues. Not sure about the 3 months under the bed though. You've got more will power than me.

Congratulations on an excellent decision . You were certainly not spoilt for choice having all those lovely instruments to choose from . I must admit I've hankered over a Lowden for some time an always said , one day . Mmm one day .

Happy days indeed! That Lowden would be coming out from under the bed every time my wife went out.
If you think Carlisle is bad you should have seen my first University flat in West Ham back in the 90's. Back then that part of east London was like a demilitarized zone.

It certainly has been informative and interesting following your journey towards buying your new Lowden (which sounds and looks wonderful). Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts. Cheers, marcus
