@martin and any other 'jo players on here.
What kinda strings (brand and guage) would you recommend on an open-back 5 string banjo?

Cheers Martin. Are the eagle ones fairly heavy guage? I haven't changed the strings on it since I bought it a year ago and am only recently getting back into playing it. The strings feel a bit too light under my fingers (I tend to press down quite hard) and I'm bending it out of tune a bit when I'm playing. Be great to have a jam/lesson with you sometime? I could really do with some pointers on my woeful technique ;-) |

Aye we should sort that out - gimme a shout and we can get together!
The strings are classed as medium I think, starting at .010
They're reasonably heavy for banjo strings, with bluegrass sets typically .008 and.009, but you can get heavier!

My Romero came with a couple of spare Romero string sets they weight in at .11 .13 .15 .24 .11
I currently have a set of Elixir mediums on it : .10 .12 .16 .23 .10
The banjo sounds great with either...
