Well, he is playing an acoustic guitar.. Remember seeing Dino early 90s in Glasgow with The Mary Chain, MBV and Blur (who were lucky not to be bottled off). Halfway through the Dino set the bass amp broke and J treated the audience to the most sublime few minutes of guitar improv.. He's a dude!

I saw the same show at Brixton Academy! I remember the same reaction to Blur. Just before they got massive!

I liked Blur (still do) but they stood out like a sore thumb on that tour and Albarn's Mockney wide boy routine went doon like a lead ballon with the assembled Weedgie grunge/indie hordes

Aside from Blur that is, I'm indifferent to them. I love MBV, J&TMC, and D.Jnr, I've seen MBV and Dino Jnr original lineups play after the reformed and they were the loudest bands I've ever seen, the only other band in the same category of volume was Sunn O)))) I saw D.Jnr play at London Astoria (before the Crossrail decided to flatten it....) about 10 years ago. J.Mascis looked half asleep and had his old battered Jazzmaster rested on his big belly. When it got to the guitar solo each was more amazing than the last; he looked half asleep but the guitar solos were out of the world. One of the best gigs I've ever seen too. I love Dino Jnr so much, I can't listen to a song of theirs without smiling. Great band.

The only drawback for me that night was that were loadsa kids there from the school I worked at (I was the school librarian believe it or not) and it got a bit tiresome seeing their shocked faces at the sight of me in me docs and plaid shirt ;-). Used to happen a lot at gigs in Glasgow in the early 90s. I've seen Blur twice, both kinda by accident. Albarn is a total f***y, but he always manages to write some interesting songs I think.

Saw MBV at Glasgow Barrowlands in 1990 or 91 (supported by Teenage Fanclub which was the main reason I went). They were insanely loud - like having an aircraft taking off in your face. Brilliant though!

Brilliant though! Wow, another great lineup! When I saw MBV they played at the Camden Roundhouse. A friend of mine worked there and said they brought in a PA usually used for festivals and when they sound checked the entire building was shaking! The aircraft taking off is a good analogy!

Yeah it was a fine line up - I even liked Blur, I thought Graham Coxon was a very inventive guitarist. Plays acoustic folk these days. It was a pretty good time for live music. I remember seeing Nivana at the Astoria. It was a good gig but I've seen younger people quickly reasses their opinion of this old bloke and bump me up a few notches when I mention it!
A lot of those people are still making great music. J Mascis' Tied to a Star is great - largely acoustic. One of my favourite bands then was Sugar and Beauty & Ruin stands up one of Bob Mould's best ever!

Have seen Sugar a couple of times and Bob Mould solo once. Copper Blue is a great album. Never saw Nirvana , although I know loads of people who claim to have seen them jamming in The Southern Bar in Edinburgh - some of them are telling porkies because apparently there we only a handful of folk there that night I always rated Graham Coxon. Really good guitarist and seemed an ok bloke, unlike yon foppish cheesemaking feller

That video with the eggs was great. They must have an excellent sense of humour.
