Putting a marker down to force myself to post this. Just recorded it, got a bit of a cold so that's my first excuse! I'll upload it on Monday at the latest but to wet your appetite here is the original. If there is a better songwriter than Jason I'm yet to hear them.

Enjoyed that clydeslide - I haven't come across Jason before, and I'm looking forward to hearing your version soon in the Plucky Duck. Keith (Have given this some thought, but hope you don't mind me moving this version into Acoustic Cafe though, as PD is purely for members to post their own recordings, though I can well see why, in this particular case, you did post it in the Duck. )

Wild Violet and andrewjw Jason is without doubt one of the greatest songwriters I've ever heard. Southeastern is a masterpiece and I really don't use that term lightly. Check it out on YouTube, if you can get through Elephant the first time without welling up I'll be surprised! The cover will be straight, vocal and guitar. Hopefully it isn't too terrible! ocarolan no problem at all! I just wanted to stick it up to force myself to put my own version up, committed to it now! Again, check out his other songs, especially The Southeastern album and Dress Blues.

Nice! I've been following Jason since DBT and I'm so glad he's produced the album we knew he had in him! I posted this in acoustic cafe a while ago and I still like the atmosphere of this performance.

maninashed I don't have home internet yet but will check it out soon Yeah, he's shown flashes of what he can do, both with the truckers and on his three previous albums, but Southeastern is just something else! Yvette is possibly the saddest, darkest song I've ever heard and the slide work on it is just perfect. It's been occupying my turntable for the past few weeks and gets listened to daily.

I posted about this guy just after I see him at Cambridge folk festival this year, I've been doing some of his songs for a while now and he is brilliant, seeing him live was fantastic, he does come over here often so keep an eye open, so does his wife who he has been known to get up with at her gigs as well, If you get a chance go see him live either with his band or, just his wife fantastic song writer

I saw him with DBT, must be 8 years ago now! Missed the Southeastern gig in Glasgow. Gutted as it was literally 5 minutes from where I was living.

chad check out Dead Mans Town. It's a tribute to Bruce Springsteens Born in the USA album with a load of alt. country artists doing the covers. Jason and Amanda do Born in the USA, I'm sure it must be in YouTube. On my phone or I'd find it!

The album is a great way to learn about some new artists, Nicole Atkins and Holly Williams were stand outs of the ones I didn't know.
Yep, he is possibly the best songwriter I've ever heard. The fact that DBT had him, Patterson Hood and Mike Cooley writing for them at one point is insane!

No worries fella, it's the only thing that's displaced Southeastern from my turntable in the past few weeks!
