I'd like to know which fretwire players/luthiers prefer on their acoustic guitars- and why.
My new build will have tall frets ( Jescar 57110, .057” tall by .110” wide, EVO gold ) because I'm very interested in ' pressure-bending ' as a technique to extend lateral string bending and vibrato. My low fret profile Spanish acoustic, with its flatish 17" radius, is feeling a tad dull to me at present.

I use Jescar FW47104 EVO that is 0.104" wide x 0.047" tall. Wears well, looks great, plays well and is nice to install.

Are Jescar frets the best for wear? I have a Hagstrom Electric that needs to be refretted and I've been looking at a few options.
I prefer frets to be taller than shorter; I have a flamenco guitar with short and narrow frets that I'm not massively enamoured with.

I'm glad to hear that, Dave, as I've been flying blind over fretwire choice but many reputable luthiers point to Jescar EVO as an excellent choice for ease of installation and durability. It may well be that I've gone over the top by choosing the really tall wire - but I'll find that out when I receive the guitar. Most times my gut feeling proves correct - and my idiosyncratic nature is satisfied.

Yes, my next question will be - are there any pitfalls in having such guitars refretted with taller frets ? It's a route I might take if I find satisfaction with the tall wire.

It'll cost a pretty penny but they'll last. I prefer frets to be taller than shorter; I have a flamenco guitar with short and narrow frets that I'm not massively enamoured with. I'd guess that you would need very good control over your fretting hand to cope with tall frets on a nylon strung guitar. You may also run into problems with fretting out and not ability to do much about it with no truss rod, but the luthiers would know if I'm talking rubbish or not about that

The Spaniards make very excellent steel-strung guitars- with truss rods. No, I'm not considering refretting my classical guitar.

Fair enough, just ignore me then No, I'll not do that- I'll repeat what I said so that you can relate it to your post; " My Spanish guitar is steel-strung, Clydeside. The Spaniards make very excellent steel-strung guitars- with truss rods. No, I'm not considering refretting my classical guitar. " Thank you for your advice, however, even if it wasn't strictly relevant.
