I was put off Sarah's book by the rules early on that say 'never join in with something you don't know'. Part of my own (C tuning) workshops are about helping people to busk along using standard progression theory. It is a great book, but it is quite prescriptive.

... I am still using DADGAD, still reading my (well-thumbed now) 'Understanding DADGAD' book. My book about folk songs states that some early folk songs were played in a modal style of tuning which is kind of interesting.
...may put something in t'Plucky Duck sometime.
DADGAD book is here (Amazon)

If you like folk history, this is an interesting book, with some good historical information.

That's what I would have guessed, but I wasn't sure. I think I remember how we discussed the usage of this little gadget during slidingwolf 's slide guitar workshop at HB4. Have fun with all these goodies !

Thanks Paul@windminstrel. This came this morning, along with a few other goodies Hope you enjoy the book. Also the Elixir Strings are my favourite. I tried Pierre Bensusan signature, but prefer Elixir Nanoweb. ......however, if you like this style, another book I have is the Pierre Bensusan Guitar Book. It has some good information in it and towards the end is invaluable if you have ten fingers on each hand that have a span of seven frets, ... then job's a good 'un. Saw Pierre Bensusan at Sheffield last year and got to shake the maestro's hand afterwards (curiously, he just appeared to have the regulation amount of fingers on each hand).
The link to the book is here:
Pierre Bensusan Guitar Book
I would note it is not a new book (1987) but is full of good DADGAD stuff.
Paul.

Took me ages to get DADGAD - the secret is to just let it ring!

Thanks Paul@windminstrel. This came this morning, along with a few other goodies Hmmmph! That reminds me I need to get to work on that book! Good luck to all who have this book in finding DADGADish enlightenment. Trouble is it's just so much fun playing without having all that learning things getting in the way. Mark

Just bought this book.
DADGAD Book
Not started it yet, but doing well with the Understanding DADGAD book, slight inroads into the Pierre Bensusan Guitar Book. One thing I have started though is a daily dose of Glucosamine Liquid to ease my finger joints after all this lot.
Paul.

Just back from a superb weekend - big thanks to Gavin Davenport ( gavdav) for organising it, Halsway Manor for hosting it, Ben ( benwalker) for being such a superb course leader, fabulous guitar player and really great bloke, and to Josie for being such a beautiful singer and lovely lady. More details in a separate report thread when I've tuned back to EADGBE uploaded some pics and gathered my thoughts. Keith
