To choose the three finalist - in the spirit of Masterchef - I'd like each entrant to make a new recording (audio or video) of a piece that they love performing for what ever reason - music from the heart - and post it on their competition thread. Just for clarity, does this additional piece still need to be original, or can it be anything?

Just for clarity, does this additional piece still need to be original, or can it be anything? Martin, As I said in my post launching the competition "Self compositions would be nice but again not essential". Any piece - self composed or cover - is what I'm looking for but a favourite performance piece. As I said - music from the heart. I do want a new recording of it though - done now for this competition and not a re-posting of an existing recording.

Entries from each of these finalists have been outstanding, and I've thoroughly enjoyed listening to them too.

Well - as they say on "The Great British Bake Off" and "Masterchef" - it hasn’t been an easy decision to make as the talent and variety of music that all entrants to this competition have produced has been really good and you all have great futures ahead of you. The hard part is that there can only be one winner and after careful consideration I have decided that the winner is: Nik DaviesWell done Nik but also well done Alex and Harlee for getting this far. "Samhradh" - the prize guitar - should be finished later this month and hopefully Keith and I can arrange to meet up with Nik for the presentation. Thanks again to Martin for letting me host this competition on the Acoustic Soundboard Forum and hopefully there will be more of these to come in the future.

Many congratulations, nikdavies! Commiserations to the other two finalists - as Dave says there's certainly a future out there for you! And more competitions to come so, once you're over your disappointment, make sure you stick around, eh?
