Whilst acquiring my new twelver yesterday (http://acousticsoundboard.co.uk/thread/4539/ngd-twelver), I managed to get just what I wanted, for not a huge amount of cash. Which led me to thinking of picking up a small, acoustic combo, whilst in the shop. Which had the added benefit of allowing me to get a "deal", for buying both. Having previously done some research, I'd taken a fancy to the Roland AC60. But whilst trying out my twelver, I'd been playing through an Acus One-Forstrings-8, which sounded amazing. Unfortunately that combo is quite a bit of cash and is more like a mini PA. More than I needed really. So the shop lady produced the Acus One-Forstrings-5. I almost laughed, when I saw it. This thing is really dinky. 50 watts from a pocket sized (almost) amp? I don't think so. Well, we plugged in the twelver and put the volume on about a third. Pretty good. Very natural and clean and pretty loud, too. We cranked the volume to halfway and things stayed the same but louder, of course. No feedback and I was very close. So I said, put in on three-quarters. Well, I sort of wanted to get my own back the the metal guitarist, who'd been widdling away, over the other side of the (very large) shop. I stood about 15 feet from the amp and did some picking. Impressive. The sound didn't go compressed or mushy, it just got louder and stayed very natural. And this was with this mini amp, on the floor. It has a fitting underneath, so it can go on a (mic type) stand. Sold!
