Anyone here subscribe to any online lessons for guitar or whatever? Not just Skype, but say a programme of video lessons with tutor interaction? I've just subscribed to ArtistWorks, after finally giving in to one of their email discount offers. Their programmes are many and varied, covering lots of different instruments and styles within those instrument categories. You have a huge number of well known professional players offering tuition videos, and they also allow you to submit your own videos for personal assessment by the tutor, which is then recorded and placed on the site for you (and others) to view. For instance, Martin Taylor provides the fingerstyle guitar tuition, and will personally comment on your progress, which I thought was quite nice You do, however, have to commit to only one 'school' at a time, so once you decide, your payment only covers that particular programme. In my case, I've plumped for some mandolin lessons from Mike Marshall, but many of the guitar (and bass) programmes also appealed. This isn't a review at this stage as I'm only a couple of days into it, and it's certainly not a recommendation as I have no idea how beneficial it will be - it's just a heads-up and for me to find out if anyone on here is doing anything similar... I'll be happy to post another report and review at a later stage, and then pass on my recommendation or otherwise

I'm doing the Bryan Sutton bluegrass guitar lessons with ArtistWorks and I've had one video exchange feedback that was literally worth the entire year's cost. I'm amazed at how much time Bryan gives to his students and how amazingly good his teaching is. I would class myself an intermediate to advanced player, but with Bryan's flatpicking school I went right back to basics and it's paying off now big time. I haven't delved much into the interaction with other students, but I have watched many video exchanges of other students' working on the same tunes as I because Bryan's feedback is so good. delb0y is in the same class as me but is further on. We had a conversation about it on here a few weeks ago. acousticsoundboard.co.uk/thread/4447/any-flatpickers

I remember the discussion, Cams. In fact, I think it was subsequent to that I checked out ArtistWorks, and it's been on my mind ever since. It's good to know you think it's been worthwhile, and I'm looking forward to getting more into it.

Yep, I'd highly recommend the course too. I've been working with Bryan on re-adjusting my whole right hand technique / process. It's a tough thing to change habits that have been ingrained over 30 years, but with a good teacher it's possible and it's paying great dividends. Highly recommended.

So far I haven't been able to devote as much time as I'd have liked to the course. I'm starting at the very beginning in case I miss anything important, so I'm just up to some Left Hand fundamentals, but I hope to start whizzing through to some tunes soon, and then get a submission sent to Mike for appraisal.

I'm signed up to the Country Blue online lessons by Tom Feldmann. They are good if finger picking blues and slide are your thing. It's all song based.
