I have been playing the guitar for about 10 years now. Recently I've started to make a splash by writing, recording and uploading songs online, and playing a few gigs and festivals in and around Bristol. Only a couple of weeks ago I was invited to audition for a Sky Arts TV series/competition called Guitar Star. I have been really excited (as well as a bit surprised) by the attention, and I feel very inspired to play more and more gigs and write more songs, and give it all I've got really.
My style has been described as 'atmospheric'. I think this is because I pay a lot of attention to tone and resonance, and I think a guitar with a really clear tone and big sustain could really suit my style and go a long way in enhancing that atmospheric sound I strive for.
Adam Walton (BBC Radio) has played me on his show a few times. Here's what he said: "Nik is one of the most natural musicians I have ever played on my show. She specializes in these brilliant atmospheric guitar instrumentals, and does some lovely cultured, interesting interpretations of other peoples tunes as well."
It's a really generous and awesome prize and I'm very thankful to the people who have given me the heads up about this great competition.
curmudgeon: Storm Eunice?? Moved cars off drive at midnight Good thing! falling tiles would have demolished both. Large greenhouse looks like Crystal Palace ...after the fire! Took cat to vets for gruesome procedure - I've taken to drink!

martinrowe: Just got electricity, hot water, and heating back - off since Friday. No internet, TV, or email - interesting. Hint: woodburners are good for making coffee with a saucepan.

curmudgeon: Visited my allotment today. My greenhouse is now spread over about four others. Really sorry for folks up north threatened by flooding. We narrowly missed flodding in '87.
