I'll chip in here and say that Scayles is a wonderful shop. :clap:

My regret was I couldn't find a high end guitar there that ticked all the boxes for me ... I did try and some were close. My Tanglewood TW73 and my Gretsch Alligator Resonator came from Scayles - plus microphones, interfaces, the dinky wee Blackstar Fly amp and many bits and pieces (I'm getting too old to remember where I got a lot of things from).

Great staff - knowledgeable (including about acoustic instruments), friendly, and they don't push their opinions down your throat the way staff in so many places do. The guitars seem better set up than in a lot of other shops and I've never had problems with the tacky old feeling dead strings on any instruments I've tried there.

I had a try of one of those Lewis Octave Mandolas there and was bowled over - beautiful instrument - I can understand your enthusiasm about it! But I'd need much more skills in the mandolin family playing to justify the price. Rats!

I'd be in there with great regularity if I lived anywhere near. As you say, very helpful and knowledgeable staff, who make or break a music store in my opinion.
