Mostly the guitar is a good friend. But some times ...
Take this morning. I picked up my guitar. I was tuned in DADGAD. I starting noodling in the key of G — a good thing to do for a bit a variety. A tune came. And then the damn thing wouldn't go away. I've spent all day on the first measure, looking for diminished chords and nice bits of shimmer. So far I've sketched out a second measure. But the damn thing won't leave me alone. On past experience this is a phenomona that could last all week!
Enough I say! I need some peace!

That's what you get for using alternate tunings (he says while tuning guitar to open E)

An interesting scenario and a lesson in there for me as well .... I note "all day on the first measure". I applaud the thoroughness and dedication to your task and the exercise of patience to make it better. I do recognise what you say about the way a work in progress keeps nagging and hassling the composer all the waking day. Another factor that makes your patience and willingness to take your time praiseworthy Andy. Mark

That's the trouble with creativity - a problem that I'm never likely to experience.
Perhaps singing a catchy tune would make it go away. What about "The lost chord" or something along those lines.
