I've had a couple of banjos before, a terrible aria resonator, and 2 old openbacks from the 30's which paid the price for not having a truss rod, now I'd like to get a good banjo again, a one that sounds good but is inexpensive because as usual I have no money, any suggestions?

Alex, don't forget you'll need to save some cash for the dungarees and having your teeth out.... Keith

I'm with Martin on Recording King. They know how to make banjos. I recently acquired an RK R36 (a bluegrass resonator, so it may not be what you're looking for) which can genuinely hold its head up with the big boys.
Paul Tebbutt's Pilgrim banjos are seriously good value too. I've picked this model up a few times and been struck by the warmth and integrity of the sound, both with fingerpicks and my own very odd attempts at clawhammer.
