I'm trying to buy a mandolin the moment and trying to decide on one to buy. I've narrowed it down, at the moment, to a Fylde or a Paul Hathway and came across this on my travels so decided to share it.
Not much detail but short and interesting. Martin Rowe

I hate to add to your dilemma, Martin, but you should also consider a davewhite " Ceol Binn" The reason being that Dave's mandos have slightly wider fingerboards than are the norm - which makes them so much easier for a guitarist (or someone with less than slender digits!) to get to grips with. Just a thought... PM him and I'm sure he'll talk options (or say he doesn't have time at the moment!)

That was interesting - thanks for posting martinrowe If I'm being honest, and I don't know much about octave mandolins, but the one played in the video sounded, well lets just say not very nice to my ears................ Cheers Phil

The pictures on the vid match the instruments - during the guitar intro there's just the guitar on the picture; then Dave's mandolin comes first, soundwise and in the picture, then the Fylde replaces Dave's playing the choon and is also reflected in the change of picture. The two mandolins take turns of 8 bars each throughout. Keith
