Hi All, I hope that this finds you well. I finished a guitar recently for a client that I like to share with you if I may. This is my Dreadnought model in Indian Rosewood and Swiss Bearclaw Spruce. Its a little different to my standard Dread. The Client had his heart set on a 12th fret joint and a Hand Rubbed Sunburst finished. The Sunburst was good fun, nerve raking as ever but I'm pleased with this one. You get a really interesting, almost 'Damascus' effect in the Swiss spruce and the Bearclaw really stands out. Here's a few picture of the build and the hand rubbed burst. One of the hard bits is to stop the Sycamore Purfling absorbing the stain, after being treated with shellac its all masked up. Its a scary process this bit, specially when it looks like yellow snow to start with. But the base colour is the really important, best starting light and getting darker... Then really Dark!! Then the blend or burst. Here's a wee video of the guitar in action. Jamie McClennan was over trying a few guitars I had in and kindly played this tune "The Shearing's Coming Round" which is one of the tunes for the James Brothers album which he and James Fagan have been touring this year. We where lucky enough to have them play in March that the First Wood Shop gig here in the workshop. Good Times! www.thejamesbrothers.co.ukFinally the Ulladale all strung up. For those who are interested, I'm now using the Name Ulladale for my Dreadnought as I have discontinued the old Ulldale from my range. Many thanks for looking, special thanks to Rob for ordering this guitar and to Jamie for his amazing playing! All the very best, Rory www.taranguitars.co.ukwww.thewoodshop.scot

Lovely guitar. Great looking bridge as well.
The tuners look like Schaller GrandTunes, what are they like in use?
