Two of the passions in my life are music and motorcycling. I love touring both in the UK and in Europe and often used to wish I could take a guitar on my travels. A google search found Voyage - Air folding travel guitars and a further search showed that my local shop The Music Centre Bedford had one in stock. A couple days later I tried it, it sounded good and the hinge mechanism appeared sturdy so I took a deep breath and bought it. It is light and comes with a gig bag. That was a couple of years ago and since then it has been all over the place. For short journeys I carry it on my back and strap it to the pillion seat with bungies for longer trips. Later this year I'll try taking it on an aeroplane, when folded it's designed to be small enough for hand luggage. When folded then put back together it doesn't go too far out of tune. Most of the time it sits with my other guitars ready for use and is often the one i pick up to play. Here's a link to their site. Voyage - Air

Since writing the above yesterday I've checked Easyjet's allowances for musical instruments and it's a fraction too big. I guess airlines have reduced them as planes get more crowded. Does anyone know of a cheap case that's up to the abuse it might get from luggage handlers?
Cheers

Cheers John It could be worth trying to get it on nonetheless on Easyjet, I'm no expert but if you turn up early and are very nice to the people at the desk they might let you through!

Thanks but I'm not sure I'd risk it. If I couldn't get it on and it ended up in the hold it probably wouldn't survive. I'm only going for a week so I can manage without a guitar. I'll take a hamonica Cheers John

I really want one of these, it would make hauling my busking gear around so much easier and would be just the job for my cycle/busking tour. Unfortunately they no longer seem to be available in the UK - I know there is some merger with Fender going on so things might just be tied up for a bit...

It's about time guitar shops started renting them out to people on holiday. There must be thousands of people who don't go away because they can't leave their guitars (mentioning no names!)

Furch/Stone bridge the Czek. luthiers do a similar nice sounding model which may be available through Thomann if not locally.
