The singer/songwriter I've listened to most over the past two years is Danielle Anderson (aka Danielle Ate The Sandwich).
Apart from her voice (which goes without saying) and her melodic songwriting (which also goes with saying), the thing I like about her is that (at least to me), she uses her instruments to accompany her rather than make them the focal point.
I also like the zany humour she often uses to introduce her songs on youtube.
Her 'studio' albums have really nice nice arrangements with double bass, violin, piano, vocal harmonies etc.
Oh, she also plays guitar.

Heheh - quirky! Great lyrics, and, as you say, nice playing and harmonies. Hmmm, not too sold on the humour, but i understand that Danielle has to find ways to make her videos a little different from the crowd. Nice combo with the violin and acoustic bass ...not quite as funky as Family Man, but still nicely understated
Thanks for sharing! a.
