Mark A friend's son tried some 2015 Gibsons but was completely put off by the truly dreadful automatic string tuners (pushed, apparently, by the Gibson CEO who has shares in the company that makes them). The guy in the guitar shop said that Gibson sales had been hit very hard by the latest "enhancements" and would have replaced the tuners for free had this not invalidated the guitar's warranty. Expect many cut price sales of 2015 Gibsons! Brian |

Not wanting to be a killjoy, but most of these Les Pauls will also have PCBs rather than traditional wiring. So if you want to change a capacitor for better tone you have to rip out the entire PCB and replace everything, while also having to rectify the pickups having special connectors that only fit the PCB. Bye bye warranty when that is done of course! According to a guy at Andertons a couple of years ago there's a good few manufacturers of electric guitars doing PCBs on the QT. So take a screwdriver with you next time you want to buy a new electric just to check - it'd be quite interesting to see the shops reaction.  There's a good few sellers been doing offers on the 2015 range this past month since the 2016 range was announced. But Martin's IS right despite the winky smiley - there will be some who will be OK with those 2015 enhancements and will be pleased to take advantage of the offers. Mark |

Gibsons don't have a great quality control rep.
And the high end models are so over priced.
There's no doubt, they make some very cool guitars but for those higher end models, you'll get much better quality/value, from a PRS or Music Man, IMO.

Well I took the bait. Got a les Paul classic for less than half the price of the RRP. G force tuner works fine and if it packs up I'll just replace the tuners. Very happy

Thanks Martin / Keith. I bought it blind so to speak. A Black Friday deal. I tried a few in the summer and was very impressed with them. To soften the blow I told my wife that it was for Christmas. When it arrived she let me give it the once over to make sure it was ok and then she took it away from me and has put it away until Christmas Day. i also soften the blow by explaining to her that they will be left to the son one day, lol.
