I saw this when it was on first time round a year or so ago and thought it was an excellent programme; it actually turned out to be more of a story about the development of the guitar as much as amplification. In fact I recorded it and watched it twice. Good spot; I'll record it again; can't miss the rugby live.

Virtual fist bump to you Alison.
My love for Marshall is greater than any other guitar related name.

.... it actually turned out to be more of a story about the development of the guitar as much as amplification. Oh well, in that case I think I'll watch it myself - thanks.

In fact I recorded it and watched it twice. Good spot; I'll record it again; can't miss the rugby live. I've been watching a great documentary about 'metal' music and they placed Jim Marshall as one of the most important people of the genre even though he never played a single note, maybe akin to Leo Fender being the greatest musical mind of the 20th century. The current state of Marshall amps makes me really sad (like Gibson guitars in some ways, a really bloated range with variable quality) but the great era of Marshall amps was something to behold. Lots of my favourite bands played Marshall amps, and when I played in a band I used to use one or two 50w/100w amps with a old Gibson SG. I've played a lot of nice nylon string/steel string guitars since that but none has provided as much as pleasure as the Gibson/Marshall combination, possibly not from a technical perspective but more so an emotive one.
