I've been selecting the wood for a couple of new guitar builds that will start in earnest in the new year.
The first is a classical that I'll be making for James Daubney. As James isn't a traditional classical player (though he's pretty good at that too!) this will be somewhat different to my usual Torres guitars, the body will be pure Torres, but I'll be trying out a bolt on neck! James came round and selected his wood, and appointments, so this will be.
B&S Madagascan Rosewood Top German Spruce Neck Cedrela and mahogany FB Macassar ebony Bridge BRW
James selected some interesting purfling/rosette schemes, and a few other non-traditional design elements, should be an interesting ride.
Second is the guitar which will be the prize for the 2016 Acoustic Soundboard 'Arrangement' competition that I mentioned at Halifax.
The guitar will be a 15" LB OOO-12 fret
B&S Gonzalo Alves Top White Spruce Neck Curly sycamore laminate FB and Bridge Ziricote.
Details of the competition will be announced in the new year, together with the tune that you will have to arrange in whatever style you want (Geordie Reggae included).

A couple of lovely sets of wood there, colins! I'm looking forward to seeing the exact 'rules of engagement' for the competition guitar

colins - Exciting stuff Colin - will look forward to the build threads - James is going to be a very happy bunny. As is another Forum member, preferably one in their mid 60s and quite beardy. Keith

Some very tidy pieces of wood there, colins; I look forward to adding to my guitar-building knowledge by following your New Year build.
