Started off at 13, with a Columbus Telecaster Bass (copy). Cost £33, brand new.

You certainly show a lot of bass-ic instinct there Graham. Fab photo - love it! I still have the Aria Diamond bass I bought in the early 1980s which would make for a very boring photo! Keith

Obviously the vast majority have moved on but I get a buzz from remembering them. I forgot one, a blue Fender Mustang bass, with a go faster stripe. It was a US one. Funnily enough I preferred the Japanese, red one, I did remember.
The first "name" bass I got, was when I got a tax rebate, at 16 y.o. It was a Gibson EB2, semi. £110, it cost. Be worth a lot more now.

Wow. Some real beauties in there.
My collection of basses owned numbered just two, both of which have been shifted on!

Amazing- the first guitar that I bought was also a Columbus Telecaster Bass in about 1973. After awhile I replaced the body with one I made at school from teak and added a Guild humbucker. It was the first guitar that I sold- below is the chap who bought it from me- now a professional bass player/teacher. maybe that bass started off both our careers! Cheers Gary
