Tonight I managed to locate the spare plastic banjo head I had lying around and managed (through some serious swearing) to fit it to the banjo.
I cranked it up really tight, and....oh my...the sound is just incredible!
It's loud, clear, sweet, full and it projects very well. My only concern over tightening the head to such an extent is the possible strain I've put on the hooks, brackets and rim. I'll need to keep an eye on that, but the sound!!

Better do some recording before Super Nova time then  I would think (and hope ) that the plastic would give way before the rim. |
