Here's one I was planning to make a couple of years ago (heavily influenced by the Louet Megado, of course): but turned to guitars because I didn't need so much wood. Thanks for the reassurance, Keith, (which was obviously what I was asking for!). You make a good point about finger-pickers not being the only fruit. Nevertheless, I am wondering whether I need to make a "standard" design to see if it sounds any different from what I'm doing at the moment. An interesting point was made during the luthiers' brains trust at Halifax when someone said that if, for example, you gave davewhite the plans and materials for one of RosieTGC's guitars, he would still make something that sounded like one of his guitars (and vice versa). I wonder if my version of a "normal " guitar would sound "normal".

So is that a fingerstyle loom or a strummer? Yes, I reckon you're right about the builder being the strongest influence on the sound. Perhaps we should set all of the Forum Loofahs a challenge of making the "same" guitar... Keith

It was davewhite that said that and sometimes he knows what he's talking about Interestingly when I first arrived in the "basement" at HB7 Keith was playing a guitar that immediately got my attention as it had great clarity, projection and bark. I was impressed. That was your first "Bryn" guitar so methinks the luthier doth protest too much

Keep the compliments coming, chaps, and I'll step back from the edge... but the void is looming (or maybe the loom is voiding)
I wasn't actually fishing for compliments - well, I suppose I was but it wasn't uppermost in my mind; I was wondering, a, how you go about identifying what the difference is between two sounds which are clearly different and, b, how the hell you identify what it is about the particular configuration of materials that has most influence on that difference. I suspect the former has a lot to do with linguistic science rather than acoustic science and the latter probably has more to do with sorcery than science, in which case I'm buggered.
