I think I have a problem as I can't seem to pass on a good deal. Just got this today. It's a 2003 gretsch 6118 I've pictured it here with the junior version as well.

Wow! Gorgeous! Where do they all go, Dave? I do wonder some times. U know you have to many guitars when you can't even do a family picture of them all together. When I see guys posting group pictures of their guitars I just weep. Lol. One day I'll find time to get them all out n group them up for a picture.

Nice guitar, Dave.
So, how many semis do you get in a year?

We don't go looking to buy. We just buy a guitar that i like n when I think it's a decent price. This gretsch is the only semi I've bought this year. We do own a lot of guitars but some have been in my family from the late 50's and onwards. Any guitar we buy now has to be a great player but at a realistic price. I'm a believer that there isn't really a good market for higher end guitars, curtenly at the moment. You only need to look at ebay items with buy it now prices. Most stuff never sells or dissaparers then gets gets resisted and this just keeps on happening. A seller has a right to ask what they want but at the end of the day it's worth what someone will pay, and that's happening now Theres another uk forum with a large for sale page, you only need to look at that and you will see that hardly anything is selling and a lot of stuff is well over priced. I think People need to stop looking at guitars as investment. As most of them are not. And gone are they days that you could buy a guitar for a cheap price then a few years later the same guitars are selling for double the price. You would buy a car use it for 5 years then expect to sell it n make money. So why are people doing it with guitars. Sorry for the rant. Lol

I agree with your "rant".
Although there's no doubt that many vintage guitars are very cool, the ridiculous prices that people want, purely because of age, rather than quality, seems very much something has to have a finite market.
Give me a high quality new over old and a bit duff, any day.
