Dave White of these parts very kindly lent his his reconfigured Suzanna piccolo guitar to me recently as I was curious about such a small guitar. Details of the work done to the guitar can be found on the thread SuzannaI haven't had the pleasure of one of Dave's guitars previously so thought I would set out a few words. Two thoughts struck me as I took the guitar out of the case, first was my goodness that is a really small guitar and almost straight afterwards to admire the absolutely superb craftmanship. I am privileged to own one or two nice guitars and the craftmanship here really stood up. Then onto playing, the neck is very playable and the whole guitar just "worked". It took a little while to get used to holding the guitar as I am used to my usual jumbo sized guitars and ended up playing it more like a classical guitar. For such a small guitar Dave has conjured a really great tone. Had the guitar in variety of G and A tunings and it coped well with all. I was going to record something with the guitar but unfortunately ran out of time. Will save that for the Samradh road trip guitar which I am now looking forward to with even more anticipation. Thanks to Dave for his generosity and for crafting such a fine little guitar and thanks also to Leo Roberts for facilitating. Greg

It was great to meet you, K Tresp, and I was happy to act as the 'drop off' point. I've recorded a ditty with Suzanna (it's in The Plucky Duck) and it really is a lovely instrument. As Greg says, the neck is fine, very comfortable to play - though I also found myself balancing it on my left knee as though I was a proper guitarist It did take me a while to get used to the (very) short scale, which was rather exciting - it was nice to have to actually think where my fingers were going! You can get a BIG noise out of such a small guitar. I'm hoping Dave doesn't arrange for it to move on too quickly...
