Who are your favourite contemporary dadgad players these days folks? Fingerstyle and plectrum? I'll start off - Tom Fletcher for fingerstyle and Ian for playing with a pick: Your turn! Nigel www.nkforsterguitars.com/instruments/

There's something pretty distinctive and always interesting about Sarah McQuaid's playing.

Of modern players, Myrddin is my pick of guitar players to use DADGAD
(also, my favourite maker/style of guitar too - Flamenco guitar builders don't really get as much credit as they deserve)

Nice pieces Nigel! And that Session King sounds superb in those hands!
I suppose I would have to give a name check to Pierre Bensusan not least as he works exclusively in DADGAD. Like many people who play on the edge of jazz some of his stuff doesn't always come off for me and he does have the annoying habit of singing as well sometimes, but he is a master player.
Tony McManus would always come to mind — stunning technique if not a tad over 'elaborate' at times. Of course, doesn't play exclusively in that tuning.
Doug Young in the USA is under-rated I think, not least because his arrangements are never that frilly and I like that.
Al Petterway is somebody I have followed for years after i bought — on spec — an album I saw reviewed in Acoustic Guitar (must have been 20 years ago now). Great arrangements and a lovely 'feel' for a tune and, again, somebody who plays relatively sparsely.
Finally, I am inclined to say myself! What I mean by that is that I've stopped listening to brilliant players these days and no longer fret about technique. I'm happier just working out new tunes of arrangement within mown comfort zone! I have no idea if it is any good but it keeps me happy !!!

Ken Nicol excels at any sort of guitarring to which he turns his hands. Always melodic and fairly cliche-free. Keith ( andyhowell - Al is certainly a fine player in DADGAD, but in the vid you have posted he is playing in standard tuning )

( andyhowell - Al is certainly a fine player in DADGAD, but in the vid you have posted he is playing in standard tuning ) I knew that was going to happen :-) I was just testing :-) I've alway been a good fan of Ken's — a friend of mine took lessons from him for a while!

I feel obliged to chip in here, as I play almost exclusively DADGAD.
I would add Simon Fox to the good examples already given:
And what about Mark Thomson who writes some lovely tunes:
Slightly tangentially, I really don't go out of my way to listen to DADGAD players any more, I'd rather listen to tunes and work out for myself whether they would fit the tuning and whether I could make something of the tune so that it might end up being worth listening to. Not easy!

I was listening to Davey Graham on the commute this morning. Some lovely DADGAD playing going on there. Some lovely non DADGAD too!

Mark T's pieces and arrangements are exceptional (all in DADGAD) - I must admit that I played his whole 'Traveller's Tale' book at a wedding gig last week, much appreciated by the Irish and Scottish guests, I felt a bit of a fake, but Mark is the real McCoy! Would love to play your Howe Orme replica nkforsterJonny

Would love to play your Howe Orme replica nkforster Jonny Ah, that little guitar was lovely. I sold it to a feller in the US. Another Howe Orme nut. But I can't make another one on spec, they're just too unusual. Be happy to make you one though - given the chance I'd make nowt else! n www.nkforsterguitars.com

From those who habitually use that strange object called a plectrum and also play in DADGAD Dick Gaughan would seem to be shoe-in. What's more. he still living, breathing and wonderfully larger than life!
