Obviously not the season of building threads at the moment so I thought I'd show you a bit of laburnum I picked up in Sheffield the other day - bought on ebay. It's 10 years dead and waxed on the ends and should provide quite a lot of bridges, headstock faces and fingerboards. Not bad for £20, I thought.  I'm no genius at chopping up logs into usable shapes but here is my practice run on the smallest piece (and this is only three-quarters of it):  It's got three distinct tones: 80% cocoa, caramel and root ginger... (but all tastes the same - probably). |
