Hi,
I bought this in September and brought it to Halifax where a few had a play. I've hardly put it down since. There's some pics at the bottom of this thread;
and here's the spec
'2017 Austin model in trans black.
Solid African mahogany back, sides and neck
Solid AAA grade spruce top
Ebony fingerboard
Ebony Bridge
Ebony pins
DuJung tuners (the same people that make all our GS tuners)
Schertler Lydia EQ pick up system
Scale length 650mm
Nut - 47mm
12th fret 58mm
Neck thickness 21mm at 1st fret, 23mm at 5th fret, 24mm at 9th fret
Saddle - 72 x 3mm'
I hadn't realised that Auden have only been going 4 years. They have a small but expert team near Northampton. They were kind enough to host a visit from my Guitar group 2 weeks ago and we were able to follow the build process through their workshop. They have recently taken over Gordon Smith and make their electric guitars on site as well. For the acoustics they bench-make the bodies in the far east and assemble with tuners, electrics (using top spec Schertler pick ups) and do the final setup in UK. They have an excellent showroom with most of their models available which we spent ages trying.
My 12-er is a dream to play. I need loads of practice to get the best out of it. It has a lovely mellow sound and is nowhere near as tangy as many I've tried. The action is superb and light. I've only had to tweak the tuning slightly a couple of times since I bought it. I don't intend to use it for power and volume but develop a fuller sound where the song suits. Early days but so far its a great investment for me.
Here's the Auden link if anyone is interested in their range. audenguitars.com/
Regards
John

It certainly looks to be of a very high standard quality construction. Nice to see a different colour top too !

I tried your 12 string at Halifax, John, and was delighted by it. It really is a wonderful instrument, and I wish you many years of joy with it.

Brilliant to have a new instrument that you really enjoy! I've not come across Auden before...just had a look at their website via your link... Apart from your 12 er the "Edgar "cedar baritone looks particularly interesting...
