I'm sure I should be googling this but I thought I'd tap the ASBo banjo-knowledge first. A work-mate of my wife has a banjo to which he would like me to add fret-marker dots. What, if any, is the standard position and which frets should be marked? Here follow pictures: Thanks for your help. (I won't be giving you a cut of the profits).

Oh. Just realised it's already got markers so there's not really a problem, is there. Still, hope you enjoyed the pictures!

No idea, k don't really look at the dots much. I usually hang around below the 5th fret with all the bad kids. Unless I use a capo. Then I go all the way up to 7

Funny thing about the banjo is that the fifth string acts as a sort of signpost part way up the neck. I tend to navigate further up the neck using awareness of where the G notes are relative to that fifth fret far more than via position spots.

You could put dots in all the empty spaces, just for a laugh!

You could put dots in all the empty spaces, just for a laugh! No joking matter, Keith. I have a habit of marking 3 5 7 8 10 12 on my guitars: It keeps them on their toes.
