I've just modified a guitar I built to have 2 single coil strat type pickups and a p-90 in the bridge, when I select the p-90 and the middle pickup together the output drops and it becomes quieter, do you reckon this is a problem or just because it's 2 different pickups, it's not a big problem really but would be cool to get it going properly

Possibly the phase and polarity of the two pickups are not working together in a good way for you. Especially if the sound is a bit thin and nasal as well as quieter. There's an article linked here from Seymour Duncan. I think that's often just a wire switch around to sort it if it's that. Hope you solve it easily Alex. Mark

Switched the ground and live wire of the p-90 around and it seems to have worked, they sound good together now!

That's what I thought - phase cancellation. Didn't say anything in case I was mightily wrong. Glad it's solved.
