It stands for New Guitar ordered Day. Back in November I had a pm chat with Keith and Paul about Francis' guitars and what their thoughts were. Both said the guitars are excellent in all respects (sorry Francis, embarrassing I know but it has to be said ) and, as a result I visited Francis yesterday and asked if he would build one for me. So, i've ordered a 000 with a deeper body than standard (for a 000). The top will be Western Red Cedar with Santos rosewood for B&S. Scale length, nut width, string spacing plus neck specs are all as per my Alexander. I asked Francis if he was going to do a build thread but he said he'd pass pictures on to me as things progress and I can post them. I had a really friendly and welcoming reception from both Francis and Sheila along with a very pleasant lunch. Can't be bad can it. John

NGoD - new guitar ordered day eh? For a minute I thought you'd changed religion there!
So pleased to hear that you've been to see Francis. We will obviously expect lots of progress reports and a full review in the fullness of time.
You won't be disappointed John! Well done Francis!
Keith

He makes a grand guitar, does Francis. Well done, John. A great choice.

Just one pic initially to see if i've remembered how to upload. If it works this is an image of the Santos Rosewood B&S from the supplier website.

Hallelujah. It worked. As I tried to explain earlier, this is the B&S image of the Santos Rosewood from the supplier site. There were 5 or 6 sets to choose from but I loved the lighter colouring in the centre plus the figuring which both myself and Francis thought would lovely around the sides.
I'll have a go at the other images tomorrow.

There were 5 or 6 sets to choose from but I loved the lighter colouring in the centre plus the figuring which both myself and Francis thought would lovely around the sides. I'll have a go at the other images tomorrow. A few more . Sides being bent. As if you hadn't worked that out. I didn't want a square Martin type headstock and suggested a certain shape to Francis. He came back with these two ideas. The one on the left is a revised version of my idea and much the better for it. So that's the one Francis is making. And the curve of Francis' logo blends nicely with the top of the headstock. I didn't have specific ideas about tuners but, when I saw the Gotoh 510's on the archtop and how great they looked I asked for them. The rosette. Some bling people so apologies to those of a 'as little bling as possible' persuasion. I wanted a abalone rosette but was unsure about outer rings. But, having checked out guitars with just the abalone it looked too bare for my liking. There's also a thin reddish line inside the outer rings of the abalone. And I also asked Francis if he could do a rosewood bridge. I've seen a number of guitars with ebony boards and RW bridges and I thought the reddish hue would go nicely with the cedar top. Fingers crossed i've done it right again.
