Does anyone know anywhere in the UK where I can buy a mandolin armrest? I've searched the web and can't find anywhere in the UK.
thanks in advance Martin

I know Kai Toenjes occasionally makes them for his own instruments, he might make/sell you one.

Hi, I don't know of ayone in the UK who makes them, maybe Phil Davidson could make one if asked. I got a plain ebony one for my Lebeda F5 from this chap: hillcountrystringworks.com/armrest5.htmlBeautiful piece of work, and not overly expensive.

A bit of revival of the thread. I've just received this: From leoswood.com/armrests/ for about £30. Not sure the picture does it justice! The process wasn't 100% straightforward as it did require a nudge to remind him but then service was pretty swift after that. Such is the hazard of dealing with one man outfits I suppose. Now just to discover if I actually like playing with an armrest

All I can say is that it made the world of difference for me. The angle of my hand felt comfortable and avoided the bridge. I got mine from Hill County in America just before Christmas. At the time the person who runs it was talking about retiring.

martinrowe I’m still experimenting with the position of mine, appreciate that it’s personal but do you have any thoughts on where I‘ve placed mine? Or any pictures of your set up?

I took a couple of photos but realised that I'd have to join flickr or photo bucket - not up for that at the moment. Here's another option. This is the site I got my armrest from: Armrest SiteI have my armrest in the same place as these photos show. It wasn't just the armrest though, it was a combination of things. What I have found is that posture and the mandolin not moving are very important. I'd read/heard it many times but once I got the posture right and the mandolin was solid it made a big difference. I've found it to be a very difficult instrument to try to learn, and have found that stubbornness helps. I think others on this site know more than me about these things - Keith and RobbieJ at least. Hope that helps Martin
