Just read a very nice interview in David Meads magazine with DC of CS&N & CSNY
He talks about a lot of things including the dropped tunings on some of his albums and in particular Guinevere (from his album of the same name, also Deja Vu) tuning which is EBDGAD which I liked the sound of so I have given it a go and its really lovely.
Does anyone know any songs in that tuning other than DC songs?

I hadn't heard of the tuning before you mentioned it. Em11 I think, and just one semitone away from the Andy McKee tuning of ECDGAD (Em11#5). The lack of the #5 does seem to make the Crosby tuning a more promising start for melodic playing. E G and D chord voicings seem to fall into place most easily and there's some nice suspended chords that don't strain the fingers. It's interesting too that playing around with those chards and chord fragments in that tuning there's sounds come out that do have more than a hint of CSNY about them. So I agree - there are some lovely sounds there. But the evidence on the internet seems to point at it being very much just a David Crosby tuning. You'll maybe need to create some songs of your own Paul. Mark
