Interesting article, but I'd take issue with her claim that she's one of only five people in the world doing what she does (at least, if she means playing the spoons)

I think she is talking about the way she plays them, it's some kind of traditional Appalachian thing. Funny to see she's only 36, she's obviously had a hard life...

Great video Martin! Just looked at her website, she has an interesting backstory. For shame - why has the perfectly clear and shorter English word "history" been subverted by the appalling Americanism "backstory"? Or is there some to be said about her spine? Brian

Brian I used the word deliberately - it has a more specific meaning than "history", especially in the film business (OK, that's largely American...). I guess I was thinking of this. Not that I'm doubting her, I'm just a natural born cynic! www.theguardian.com/music/musicblog/2016/sep/29/seasick-steve-session-musician-ramblin-man-book

However, a 30-year-old, lazy American neologism is most definitely not good - "background story" if you must. Brian

I think I put spoons in the same bag as jaws harp and kazoo. Does my head in. If you've sat next to an exhuberant 'spoons' 'player' in a 'session' you'll understand. (Colour me carmudgeonly!) But Chris was great!
