The finished instrument

Here are some pictures of the finished mandolin:

And sound samples will follow within a week or so.
It has a lot of volume and sustain. The sound is geared towards the trebles, but I hope the bass will improve as the instrument "opens up". And I may change the qauges for the wound strings, as I have a very light setup right now. The scale length is longer than average - 375 mm - so I thought that I'd choose light strings, 10-14-24-34, but I concider changing at least the G-strings to 0.36 or so. Over all it feels very promising...

Back and sides: Sipu "mahogany"
Neck: Sipu "mahogany"
Fretboard. Ebonized laburnum
Bindings and head veneer: Laburnum
Bridge: Maple with ebony top
Tuners: Gotoh
Tailpiece: Aluminium custom made for ball-ends.

Scale length: 375 mm
Nut width: 32 mm
Neck to body width: 40 mm

No echo or reverb on the mandolin, but slight compressor and equalizer. Backing with Tanglewood guitar.
