Just home from the first gig on the tour...St Andrew's Parish Church in Harberton , S Devon... St Andrew's is not strictly a cathedral but was built in the 14th century and is currently in need of some renovation...the proceeds from tonight's preview gig are going to help with that. Kirsty Merryn is providing the support for the tour...she got the evening off to an excellent start...she has an album out with "strong women" as the theme apparently ...she was completely charming and sang beautifully accompanying herself on electric piano...Steve K shared a song about Grace Darling...a highlight of her set for me. HPC is small...only 200 people were squeezed into the pews and onto extra seating beyond...mostly recipients of the Harbertonfolk e mail circular that gives definitive info on local folk music events. SOH could do no wrong...a magical night enhanced by superb lighting highlighting the lovely old church. They played one long set...a mix of some new songs , new arrangements of old songs and some old favourites. "The Keeper" and "The Old Lych Way" were two highlights but Phil B's performance of "Crow on the cradle /The Herod song" was equally spine tingling. Miranda S was stunning singing "The Lily and the Rose" as well as playing her double bass to great effect and adding glorious harmonies. Yet another marvellous SOH evening...if tonight's event is anything to go by then the rest of the tour should be brilliant. www.showofhands.co.uk/events/categories/2017-cathedral-tour/

Sounds wonderful, Andrew. If only they would venture North of the Wall once more!
