There's a TV documentary on Nile Rogers about how to make in the moosic bizzness. Normally it wouldn't interest me but I believe he is a bit of a music legend and I wanted to know more about him. Watched the first programme, quite interesting. Went back to where he grew up, surrounded by music. His veins positively flow with music!
When talking about the genesis of one of his songs (Freak Out) he tells how it came about after trying to get into a club visited by Grace Jones. She told them to go round the back, knock on the door and say something like Hi I'm friends with Grace Jones darling. They did that and got told to eff off. They go home, drink a bit and Nile picks up his guitar and keeps shouting out "F*** off" while playing a power chord. He continues and eventually transforms his annoyance into a song on his strat. He starts strumming to the words "F*** off" and gets a cool song going. We gotta use this he says but of course they have to change the words. He initially changes it to Freak Off, but that doesn't sound cool. Then he comes up with Freak Out. The rest is history...

I like Nile.....he showed me how to play the guitar riff on Bowies China Girl.
(Just to clarify....it wasn't a one to one/personal lesson, but by watching him on a TV documentary too).

Think I saw that documentary, Stanley. It was called The Hitmaker if memory serves.
