When the last coat is on and sanded, the bridge is put on with the two outside pins, its outline carefully marked on the top with a scalpel and the finish underneath the bridge removed: The bridge is then glued on using hot hide glue:

The label is signed and glued in: Today is the Winter Solstace - a great day for stringing up "An Féa Caol" for the first time which is what I did this afternoon This is a long process involving fitting the Gotoh tuners and nut to the neck, bolting on the neck, cutting the bridgepin slots, fitting the bridgepins, saddle and strings and cutting the initial nut slots, bringing the strings to pitch, capoing at the first fret and adjusting the truss rod to give the correct neck relief, adjusting the saddle height for desired action at the 12th fret and finally cutting the nut slots to give desired clearance at the nut. As it's the shortest day the light has gone and photos will have to wait until tomorrow. However, I do like to record my instruments as close as possible to first stringing as a reference for how the sound changes over time - it's hard to keep that in your head. So I've just recorded "Arthur's Waltz" - the tune I wrote in memory of my dad - straight into my Zoom H4n in Stereo mode, no EQ adjustment or added effects. The tuning is FCFBbCF - the equivalent of DADGAD for a Terz guitar. String are D'Addario pb's gauges 12, 16, 21, 27, 36, 49.

Ooh! Tinkly. Really splendid, Dave. That last harmonic sounded like it wanted to sustain til tomorrow morning.
Another fab bit of work, my friend.

Nice jangle, and I think that's my favourite of your tunes.
