Unless you're an expert already, I'd suggest getting a pro to finish it for you. You could spend a small fortune on rattle cans- primer, filler, undercoat, top coat, clear etc. Buying a spray gun and compressor wouldn't be worthwhile unless you're going to build a lot. The main thing is that spraying a decent colour finish is a real skilled job and needs much practice to get right.
I would also add, I'm not the pro to do it- I'll keep to French polish!
