Picked this up today, a nice Tanglewood Natural 28 DLX (cedar/rosewood) - all solid, someone's fitted a pickup, and it plays not too bad. Sounds poor but I'm betting that's the 15year old+ strings, so hoping it'll be transformed with new strings. This issue is a nasty looking bash on the back near the bottom edge, caused seemingly by it being dropped on its edge. I bought it without looking too closely at it, so it's entirely my fault that I only noticed this damage when I got it home, but at the cost I was faced with, it was all I could do not to just grab it and run I got an amp and a hard case with it, so I've worked out that at worst in terms of overall package value, the guitar was actually free, so I don't mind if it needs work. So, what's the verdict on this one - beyond help, a simple fix or somewhere in between?

Martin, my brother had very similar damage on his martin D-15 after dropping it, he lives in London and took it to one of the repairers on Denmark Street, it was a simple fix, didn't cost a lot (about £60 from memory) and the repair is pretty difficult to see... worth it I'd say if it sounds good after you get new strings. Are you planning on opening a little guitar shop Martin, you seem to be accumulating a lot of gear at bargain prices!?

I might drop it off to iantheguitarguy when I get the chance and ask for a quote. Funny you should mention a shop - my better half keeps on at me to do something exactly in that line....hmm... Anything feel/sound loose on the inside, Martin ? Keith Nope, nothing except some wiring for the pickup system Keith - seems solid else. I've just cleaned the frets and fingerboard - some minor divoting and fretwear, but nothing too damning I think.

Sounds promising, but no harm getting a proper assessment - let us know how it turns out, Martin. Keith
